Author Guidelines

Ocean and Coastal Journal is a national and international journal published on two times per year dedicated to the study of all aspects of ocean and coastal at international, national, regional, and local levels. Scope of Journal: a) Marine conservation; b) Fisheries management; c) Social Ecological System; d) Marine spatial planning; e) Marine pollution; f) Climate change. Based on SK. PDII No. 0005.25498223/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2017.03 (March 8, 2017), Coastal and Ocean Journal has been registered in the ISSN online, with the electronic number ISSN 2549-8233.

Manuscript sent to editorial COJ must follow the writing guidelines with an editable file of the entire article. Manuscripts that do not accordance with the guidelines will be returned for revision before scientific review.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Language
    Manuscript can be written in Indonesian or English Language. Manuscript with the English Language has been 'spell checked' and 'grammar checked'. Authors who are unsure of correct Indonesia or English usage should have their manuscript checked by someone proficient in the language. Manuscripts in which the Indonesia or English is difficult to understand may be returned to the author for revision before scientific review.
  2. Types of paper
    • Research Articles: Original and unpublished work e.g. controlled trials, intervention studied, studies of screening and diagnostic test, cost effectiveness analyses, case-control series, and surveys or monitoring program. Generally, manuscripts should not exceed 8,000 words, the maximum word length being 10,000 can be accepted after consultation with Editor-in-Chief. The length of a paper should be commensurate with the scientific information being reported. In particular, the introductory material should be limited to a few paragraphs and results presented in figures should not be repeated in tables.
    • Short Communication: A brief communication of urgent matter or the reporting of preliminary findings to be given expedited publication. Maximum 4000 worlds excluding references and abstract and up to 10 references.
    • Review papers: Critical assessments of literature and data sources. Those wishing to prepare a review should first consult the Editors or Associate Editors concerning acceptability of topic and length.
    • Special Issues. Series seminar, proceedings of symposia, workshops and/or conferences will be considered for publication as a special issue.
  3. Manuscript Guidelines
    • The length manuscript from "title" to "references", a maximum of 10 pages, 1,5 spaced, paper size A4, one column, use a right and left margin of 2,5 cm, top and buttom margin of 3 cm;
    • Articles written in Indonesian or English Language with MS-Word, with font text using Cambria with size 12 pt. (except the abstrcat with size 11 pt., and afiliation with size 9 pt.);
    • The articles structur consist of:
      1. Title (no more than 20 word)
      2. Author names and affiliations (without degree)
      3. The full address and correspondence email agencies of authors
      4. Abstract in english and Indonesia
      5. Intoduction (background and purpose)
      6. Material and Methods
      7. Results and Discussion
      8. Conclusions
      9. Acknowledgements
      10. References
  4. Article Processing Fees
    Manuscript that is sent to the editorial office is free of charge. Publication fee borne by the publisher, and the publication is only in the electronic journal (if the author wants the journal printing, fee is payable by authors or on their behalf).

Copyright Notice

Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to complete a 'Journal Publishing Agreement'. Acceptance of the agreement will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. An e-mail will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript together with a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' form or a link to the online version of this agreement. Permission of the society is required for resale or distribution outside the institution and for all other derivative works, including compilations and translations (please consult to managing editors; journal@pksplipb.or.id). If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.
